Montreal, February 9, 2018 – Centre de transfert d’entreprise du Québec (CTEQ), an organization that supports entrepreneurs with a comprehensive approach to business transition, is proud to announce that Andrew Molson has been appointed as spokesperson. A seventh-generation member of the Molson family, his mission will be to raise business succession planning awareness amongst owner-managers.

Business succession—A long-standing and inspiring Molson family tradition

“All over Quebec, there are men and women at retirement age who are still passionate about the companies they run. However, they have to learn how to step aside for the good of all they have created over the years. As spokesperson, I hope to get entrepreneurs thinking about succession, particularly those who care deeply about the future of the businesses they have invested so much time and effort in,” explained Andrew Molson.

As CTEQ CEO Vincent Lecorne added, “With his many commitments and his wealth of experience, we feel that Andrew Molson has all the right qualifications to bring CTEQ’s message to a wider audience, at a time when business succession is increasingly topical—and important. “For each company that shutters, direct and indirect jobs are lost and a community is weakened. That’s why our role is so essential and why it’s such a great honour to be able to count on Mr. Molson’s interest and availability as our organization’s spokesperson.”

Mr. Molson is a partner and chairman of RES PUBLICA Consulting Group, the owner of NATIONAL Public Relations. He sits on the board of directors of Molson Coors Brewing Company and is a member of the board of directors of Groupe Deschênes Inc., the Jean Coutu Group (PJC) Inc., Dundee Corporation, and of CH Group Limited Partnership, owner of evenko and the Montreal Canadiens. He also serves on several non-profit boards.

At CTEQ, we build relationships

CTEQ was created by the Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation in March 2015. Its purpose is to guide transferors and transferees through their business transfers. With nearly 60,000 companies ready to change hands in the next few years, it is crucial that the next generation of Quebec entrepreneurs be prepared to maintain and develop the jobs, knowledge, and drive of these companies, all across the province. CTEQ advisers offer training sessions to transferors and transferees throughout Quebec and promote INDEX, the referral system with buyer profiles that brings parties together. They also provide personalized guidance to help entrepreneurs create transfer plans and maximize their success.
